UMU 05: Sunflower

Beautiful Sunflower.

How did you come to be so sad?

Did I not water you enough?

Roots and stem sodden with empty words of

change and commitment.

No longer able to keep perched.

I gave you a lamp instead of sunshine. No longer able to keep warm.

And as a result of the two,

I killed you along with two un-sprouted Sunflowers.

To which stole the last of your colors.

Failing to show love once again, and failing to help grow.

I did not know how to care for you properly.

Now look at you, wilted and dry...

No longer fluffed with petals,

And no seeds left to grow.

Vibrant colors of life, yellow, green, and brown.

Now cold and pale, life drained into the dry, crumbled soil.

But my eternal love for you has not died.

Wishes of seeing you again.

I keep a seed planted in my mind of you.

Deeply rooted into ever brain cell, all of my limbic system, and all of my hippocampus.

I shall let you feed off the memories of sunshine.

Until I find a field of endless sunshine and water.

Where I will lay myself to rest six below,

and allow you to once again sprout into the world.

Gifting the world of your beauty and filling it with endless sunflowers.
